The YMCA in Bath will undergo a leadership change this month, as its chief executive officer leaves for a new position in Alabama.
The Bath Area Family YMCA announced last week that Amy Vendt, chief operating officer, will replace CEO Rob Gray, effective July 14, according to a news release. Vendt will be the new interim CEO as the nonprofit searches for a new COO this summer.
Earlier this month, Gray announced to staff and members in a letter on the Bath Area YMCA’s website that he will be departing his role to become the next CEO of the Heart of the Valley YMCA, based in Huntsville, Alabama.
“The Bath Y has experienced exciting, transformational growth in recent years, and I’m committed to building on that momentum,” Vendt said. “I look forward to working alongside our dedicated staff, volunteers and community partners to ensure that our Y continues to provide the high-quality facilities, programs and services that our members and neighbors count on every day.”
Vendt brings over 30 years of experience to the interim position, along with having served as COO for the past two years at the Bath Area YMCA. Before arriving in Maine, Vendt served as the executive director of the YMCA in Central Maryland.
“On behalf of the entire board, we wish Rob great success as he begins this next chapter in his professional journey,” said Bath Area YMCA Board President Peter Owen. “We are excited to welcome Amy into this role, leading our association.”
