Bath Heritage Days returns next week with events taking place through Independence Day weekend.
On Friday, July 4, there will be a 1-mile and 5-mile race at 7 a.m. at Front Street and the Independence Day Parade along Lincoln, Centre and Front streets. Oysthers will be participating in Bath Heritage Days for the first time this year with a brand new Beer and Wine Garden at its Commercial Street location throughout the week from noon to 10 p.m.
According to Lauren Crosby, the co-owner of Oysthers, the selection will include domestic and craft beers — collaborating with Oxbow Brewing Company and Thirsty Botanist — house red and white wine, and non-alcoholic beers and sodas.
“We are from here, so we understand how intense Bath Heritage Days get,” Crosby said.
The Strawberry Shortcake Social will take place in Library Park from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on July 4. The following day, the 176th Firemen’s Muster will be held on North Front Street near the Patten Free Library from noon to 3 p.m.
The Bill King’s Front Street Shuffle Car Show will return to Bath Heritage Days on Front Street in downtown Bath on Sunday, July 6, from 9 a.m. to noon.
Smokey’s Greater Carnival Show will be on Commercial Street from Thursday, July 3, to Sunday, July 6. Bands will perform on the Waterfront Stage throughout Bath Heritage Days between 2 and 8 p.m., with bands like Fire in the Hole, The Renovators, Tony Dancer’s International Maine, and Papa Tim and the Whiskey Throttle Band.

The Bath Historical Society is sponsoring a Kids Parade in Library Park on Thursday, July 3. Any children participating in the parade will be asked to dress in their Bath Heritage Days best and will circle the perimeter of Library Park. The historical society will provide clothing to help kids create costumes.
“This is the first year that we have resurrected this, we are going to be pretty liberal in our interpretation,” Persons said. Kids wearing the most authentic, original and artistic costumes will receive prizes for their creativity.
Bath Historical Society will also recruit participants from other kid-centric events in Library Park to take part in the Kids Parade. Other events for kids include the Children’s Entrepreneur Market from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the Bath at Play Kids Games beginning at 1 p.m. Families can register on Bath Historical Society’s website.
