Jeannette L. Roux

BIDDEFORD POOL – Jeannette L. Roux, 93, of Biddeford Pool, Maine, passed away unexpectedly early Tuesday morning on Feb. 4, 2025, at Maine Health Maine Medical Center in Biddeford.

She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Jeannette was born in Biddeford on Dec.r 31, 1931. She was the daughter of Norbert and Alice (Beaudet) Plante and one of the oldest of ten children. She was educated in Biddeford and a member of St. Joseph’s Parish. She grew up throughout Southern Maine in Biddeford, Hills Beach, Vinalhaven and Worcester, Mass.

She met her husband, Maurice C.E. Roux, Jr. while growing up and they later married. Together they raised three children. After graduating from Maine Maritime Academy in Castine, Maine, Maurice enlisted in the Navy, and they traveled around New England. Jeannette loved playing the piano, doing puzzles, bird watching, reading, gardening, knitting, walking her favorite grand-dog Peanut and the ocean. She would often invite relatives and friends to her home to take walks on the beach nearby. She also loved to cook for her family and would often be found baking her famous French cuisine around the holidays.

She was predeceased by her late husband, Maurice C.E. Roux, Jr. in 1993. She is survived by her three children, Maurice C.E. Roux III (Skip) and his wife Carol of Lyman, Edward L. Roux and his wife Joyce of Arundel and her daughter Elaine Lilley and her husband Daniel G. Lilley, II of South Portland. She is also survived by her granddaughter Jocelyn Lecours and her husband Jacob of Arundel, her grandson, Benjamin of Arundel and granddaughters Noelle and Addison who loved visiting their great-grandmother. She is also survived by siblings Patrick Plante and wife Maria, Roger Plante, Norbert Plante;, and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours will be from 4 – 6 p.m. Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Cote Funeral Home Chapel, 87 James Street, Saco. A Funeral Mass will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 27, 2025 at St. Brendan’s Chapel, 40 Lester B Orcutt Blvd, Biddeford Pool. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Biddeford.
