Cool off at Walker Library

Want to cool off as temperatures soar? Book it over to Walker Memorial Library, 800 Main St.

The library is air conditioned and available as a cooling center. You can refill your water bottle, create a craft or relax reading.

The library is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

StrEat food park

Food trucks will be at Westbrook Community Center, 426 Bridge St., from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25. Special features include live music and playgrounds.

Free park concerts kickoff

Westbrook City Band will perform in concert from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1, at Riverbank Park, 677 Main St. Take a blanket or your own lawn chair.

The band will open the summer concert series that continues on Tuesdays through Aug. 12. Stephen W. Manchester Post 62 of the American Legion will team up with Westbrook Lions Club to host a weekly barbecue.

50 years ago

The American Journal reported on July 25, 1975, that marriage intentions filed in the City Clerk’s Office included Robert Granville Eaton of Monroe Avenue and Martha Jane Landry, Deer Hill Circle.
