Patten Free Library will kick off Summer Reading 2025 from 3:30-5 p.m. Friday, June 20. Activities will include a bounce house, music, ice cream from Zellie’s and the opportunity to register for Summer Reading and collect a free book.

“I want to make this summer about literacy of all kinds, and our theme of ‘Level Up!’ will help all our patrons at Patten Free Library level up their literacy,” Head of the Children’s Department Mary Randall said in a prepared release. “Our prizes and programs are sure to keep everyone engaged all summer, and I can’t wait to get started.”

The Patten Free Library has events for all ages scheduled throughout the summer, including a puzzle race, family game nights, Dungeons and Dragons, Citizen Science programs and visits from Sparks Ark, Thayer Treats and Within the Whale. Readers of all ages can earn prizes with Summer Reading Bingo by attending library programs, reading books and completing activities. New this year is a reading raffle where patrons earn prize tickets every time they read. Regular programs, such as storytimes, book groups, foreign language conversations and the Knitting Circle, will continue throughout the summer.

Summer Reading runs from June 20 through Aug. 15 and is open to anyone of any age who lives in the Patten Free Library service area (Arrowsic, Bath, Georgetown, West Bath and Woolwich) has a PFL card or attends an RSU 1 school or school located within the library service area.
