Evelyn Theresa (Boudreau) Robichaud

SANFORD – Evelyn Theresa Robichaud, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on her 94th birthday, June 12, 2025.

Born in Sanford on June 12, 1931, Evelyn was the daughter of William “Bill” and Rose (Dubois) Boudreau. She grew up alongside her sisters Rita, Doris, and Shirley, with whom she shared a lifelong love of music and harmony. The Boudreau sisters were known for their harmonious singing at family gatherings, a legacy of love and connection through song. In later years, their bond was kept strong through a cherished Saturday morning coffee ritual—an opportunity to stay connected, laugh, and share stories and memories that spanned decades.

Evelyn graduated from Sanford High School in 1950 and married the love of her life, Louis Donald Robichaud, on Oct. 6, 1951. They remained in Sanford to raise their four children, Richard “Rick”, married to Linda (Nedeau); Raymond “Ray”; Donna, married to Alan (Worthing); and Linda, married to Jim (O’Connor). Evelyn and Louis shared 72 years of marriage until his passing in December 2023.

Evelyn was a proud and loving grandmother to Jason (son of Rick), Victoria and the late Zachary (children of Donna and Alan), and Kevin, Brendan, Casey, and James (children of Linda and Jim). Her joy expanded further with the arrival of her great-grandchildren, Ruby and Peter, Jason’s children, and Brooks, Zachary’s son. Evelyn cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, delighting in their milestones, personalities, and visits. Her legacy of love lives on in each of them.

After attending Pelletier’s School of Beauty Culture in Lewiston, Evelyn owned and operated Evelyn’s Beauty Shop for 25 years. Her career later led her to the Sanford Police Department, where she served as detective secretary (badge #75) for seven years.

Evelyn’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was a devoted member of the Daughters of Isabella and participated in Marriage Encounter and Cursillo, where she deepened her spiritual life and built lifelong friendships. Sundays were filled with family, Mass, and cherished traditions—picnics, visits to the lake, and Sunday night dinners at Gay’s Hideaway or Ted’s Fried Clams, always followed by ice cream at Shaw’s Ridge Farm. Evelyn especially loved her ice cream.

An avid painter, Evelyn found joy and beauty in oils. Her home was adorned with her artwork, which now lives on in the homes of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also gave selflessly to others—knitting baby sweaters, blankets, and caps for hospitals and loved ones, and visiting community members in need of company, compassion, or help.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Rolly Legere, Evelyn’s devoted caretaker, for her companionship, personal care, and emotional support. They are also deeply grateful to the staff of Summer Commons for their kindness, compassion, and exemplary care.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 31, at Saint Thérèse of Lisieux Parish—Holy Family Church in Sanford. Following the Mass, Evelyn will be buried at the Southern Maine Veterans’ Cemetery in Springvale, where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Louis.

Evelyn’s warmth, creativity, faith, and love of family touched everyone who knew her. She will be remembered always with love and gratitude.
