Veronica E. Kenney
FALMOUTH – Veronica E. Kenney passed away on Friday, June 6, 2025, in the loving company of her children and their spouses.
Born August 22, 1930 in Montreal, Canada, she was the oldest child of Karl Ferdinand and Margarete (Kuhn) Koch. Veronica grew up in Heidelberg, Germany where she met Robert N. Kenney, U.S. Army, whom she married on April 14, 1950. Together they raised three children.
Veronica devoted most of her life to friends and family, always ready to host a get-together to celebrate something. She enjoyed several opportunities to introduce her family to the beauty of Heidelberg.
Veronica is survived by her sister Margarete Elliott of Malden, Mass.; her daughter, the Rev. Lynne L. and her husband the Rev. James Mentzer of Gorham, sons Robert Kenney and fiancée Janis Rollins of Bangor, and John Kenney and his wife Marisue Schuiling of Bangor; grandchildren Christopher Campbell and his wife Kate, Patrick Campbell and his husband Ganesh Rao, Maxwell Campbell and his wife Maria of Vietnam, James Kenney and his wife Crystal of New York, Elizabeth Dumont of Wells, Catherine Kenney and her partner Zachary Gasaway, Gregory Rollins and his wife Gabby Tessitore, Nicholas Kenney and his partner Isabel Karlsberger, and Samuel Kenney and his fiancée Danielle Horne; and many nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren.
Veronica was predeceased by her parents and her loving husband of 60 years.
Friends may call from 1 – 2 p.m. on Friday, July 11, at Thornton Heights United Methodist Church, South Portland. A celebration of her life will immediately follow, with the Rev. Gwyneth Arrison officiating. Interment for Veronica and her husband Robert will immediately follow the service at Brooklawn Memorial Park, Portland.
Veronica was very passionate in her support of the American Indian Nation.
