BRUNSWICK – Clifford Stockford, 75, of Brunswick passed away peacefully at home early in the morning on Wednesday, March 5, 2025. Clifford “Cliff” was born on Jan. 2, 1950, in Brunswick, the son of the late Charles and Claire Stockford.
Cliff attended St. Johns Catholic School and later graduated from Brunswick High School in 1968. He worked for several years at the Pejepscot paper mill, before joining Bath Iron Works (BIW) as a welder. Cliff continued at BIW and was promoted to the design and engineering department where he continued to work until his retirement in 2013.
Cliff married the love of his life, Kathleen Stockford (LeMay), in June 1980, and they remained together until her passing in 2018. Cliff was a talented builder, building the family home in Brunswick, as well as a vacation home in the Rangeley Lakes Region. Cliff enjoyed fishing and hunting, watching the New England Patriots, spending summers and holidays with his wife in Rangeley, and he enjoyed family dinners, especially when they consisted of Maine lobster.
Cliff will be fondly remembered for his quick wit and hysterical sense of humor. Even at times of difficulty, Cliff could make the room laugh and he would often poke fun at himself.
Cliff is survived by his son, Jason Stockford, of East Providence, R.I., his brother, Charles Stockford, of Oklahoma City, O.K., his sister, Judith Thibault, of Bowdoinham, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Cliff was predeceased by his wife and parents, his daughter, Stephanie Stockford, as well as two brothers, Wayne Stockford and Donald Stockford.
A private memorial service will be held on June 20, 2025, for close friends and family.
