Two antique buses parked in a yard on St. John Street caught fire early Wednesday, the Maine Department of Public Safety said.
The Portland Fire Department responded to the report at 464 St. John Street at around 3:30 a.m. to find the two buses ablaze.
The fire extended to a nearby building, but firefighters were able to limit damage to its exterior, Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss said in a statement.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office is assisting in an ongoing investigation of the fire. The cause of the fire had yet to be determined as of Wednesday night.
Representatives of the city’s police and fire departments were not available for comment Wednesday night.
