North Yarmouth voters elected Christina Benn and Paul Hodgetts to the town’s Budget Committee. The only contested race of this election, the elected candidates will serve three-year terms.

Benn received 437 votes and Hodgetts received 388 votes. Contestant Sean Holshouser received 341 votes and was not elected.

North Yarmouth also voted against a $53.82 million school budget. The town voted against the School Administrative District 51 budget 410-373. However, with Cumberland approving the budget 911-757, the combined total of SAD 51 votes passed the school budget 1,284-1,167.

The proposed school budget is up by about 7.12% from the current fiscal year. Increases in salaries and benefits make up 87% of the budget increase, while other projects and positions were cut or delayed.

The town voted to continue the budget referendum process for the district for an additional three years, by 625-151 votes.

Andrea E. Berry and Paul William Whitmarsh were elected for three-year terms as North Yarmouth Select Board Overseers of the Poor in an unopposed race.

Leon Amergian won a five-year term as member of the Cemetery Commission, running unopposed. Leanne Hemphill Candura was elected to represent North Yarmouth on the MSAD 51 Board of Directors in an unopposed race.

Of the 3,544 registered voters in North Yarmouth, 790 ballots were cast, making up 22% of voters.
