Registration for the Kennebunk Free Library 28th Edition 5K is open. The USATF-certified course begins and ends in the library parking lot, winding through local neighborhoods and the Hope Cemetery and Woods trails. The 5K is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Friday, July 11.

Following the race, the library invites participants and patrons for a party on the library lawn. The party will feature live music by the Kennebunk River Band, food from Crotux at Garden Street Bowl, and a beer tent by Federal Jack’s. Food trucks, Plot Twist Pretzels and The Treat Truck, will also be on site and a portion of all sales will go to the library.
Prizes from the 5K will go to the top male and female finisher in each of eight age categories. The online auction will run July 1-15 with items donated by local businesses and donors, and there will be a 50/50 beginning on June 23, with the winner drawn the evening of the race. No need to be present to win.
Event sponsor is Weirs Motors. Diamond sponsors are Kennebunk Savings, Appliance Advantage/Aspire Home, Crotux Catering/Garden Street Bowl, Green Clean Innovations, Maine Classic Car Museum, Nvest Financial Group and Webhannet Charitable Foundation.
Organizers of the event also recognized Corning, Kennebunk Outfitters, M&T Bank, Reform Physical Therapy and 80 sponsors for record-setting donations.
Registration closes at 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9. Same-day registration begins at 4 p.m. the library on race day, Friday, July 11. The race starts at 6 p.m. To register, visit www.kennebunklibrary.org.
