Region 10 Technical High School’s student of the year and outstanding student are both leaving high school with lengthy résumés of real-world experience.

The Brunswick trade high school has selected Lucas Pinkham, of Bowdoin, as student of the year and Brooklyne Choate, of Topsham, as the outstanding senior for 2025.

Throughout his four years in high school, Pinkham split his time between Region 10 and Mt. Ararat High School and completed the foundations of technology, building trades and workplace readiness programs. Choate attended Brunswick High School and studied creative digital media at Region 10.

Pinkham was honored to receive the student of the year award and attributed it to hard work and great teachers in the classroom and the workshop.

“I try to put in that extra step and get that extra work in and help out where it’s needed, and come in early,” Pinkham said in an interview.

As a part of his studies, Pinkham has worked at NextGen Landscapes for the past three years. Next year, he heads to Southern Maine Community College, where he will study electrical technology.

Pinkham said he had known he wanted to attend Region 10 since visiting the school with his fifth-grade class. In his senior year, he planned a project to bring in students from Bowdoinham Community School and give them a preview of the programs offered by Region 10.

The school’s student of the year announcement refers to Pinkham as a “energetic and eager representative of our school.” Two of his instructors, Jason Darling and Wade Boudreau, agreed.

“I’ve been telling everyone that Lucas is going to be student of the year for, like, three years,” Darling said. “You could just see it in the way he carries himself. He’s a different kind of young man, and he’s been a fantastic representative of our organization for four years.”

Brooklyne Choate

Outstanding senior Choate has an “unparalleled” commitment to her education, Region 10’s announcement said. Throughout her time at Region 10, she’s earned a total of 36 SMCC credits, placing her well into her sophomore year upon entering college.

In addition to her academic achievements, Choate has balanced a steady job and a graphic design internship at Basement Woodworks in Brunswick. She’s also a varsity athlete, playing soccer, basketball and lacrosse.

“What truly sets Brooklyne apart is her unwavering work ethic, leadership, and ability to inspire those around her,” Region 10 staff wrote. “She is a role model among her peers, approaching every challenge with a positive attitude and an eagerness to learn. Her dedication to excellence, coupled with her ability to balance multiple commitments with poise and determination, makes her a standout student.”

Region 10 Technical High School senior recognition night was scheduled for May 29 at 6 p.m. in the Orion Theatre at Mt. Ararat Middle School. Graduating this year are 103 seniors from Freeport, Brunswick and Mt. Ararat High Schools. They’ve earned certifications in EMT basics, culinary arts, auto collision repair, building trades, digital media, welding, early childhood education, electrical technology and more.

More than $34,000 in scholarships and awards was awarded to Region 10 graduates, donated by local businesses, foundations and families.
