William Glenn Hoffman

CHATHAM, Mass. – William Glenn Hoffman, 71, of Chatham, Mass., and formerly of Buxton, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2025, at his home.

Bill was born in Canton, Ohio, the son of the late Robert F. and Doris E. Hoffman. When Bill was 10 years old, his family moved to Hollis.

Bill graduated from Bonny Eagle High School, the University of Rhode Island, and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute graduating with a master’s degree in civil engineering. Two years later Bill acquired his Professional Engineer’s license. In 1986, Bill and his good friend Mike Deluca established DeLuca Hoffman Associates, a professional civil engineering and environmental consulting firm.

Major achievements during Bill’s tenure as president included the redevelopment of the Raymark Brownfield site in Stratford, Conn., the 175-acre Highlands Commons retail project straddling the Hudson/Berlin Mass. town lines, as well as the site design for the first Hannaford LEED platinum rated site in the United States and over 56 school projects. The firm received numerous awards from state and county officials. Bill was known for his integrity and attention to detail and dedicated work ethic. In 2015 Bill sold his company and retired to his home in Chatham, Mass. with his wife.

Once retired, Bill received his Master Gardener’s Certification and participated in the Chatham Community Garden. Bill also served as president of the Little Beach Association, Chatham, formed to study the impact of rising sea levels and erosion of the outer dunes and resulting flooding.

Bill will be remembered for his hard work, dedication, and his love for his family. In his spare time, he would be gardening, reading, being with his cats, listening to music and going to the beach.

Notably, Bill was a dedicated and devoted Christian and was a member for over 30 years of Galilee Baptist Church in Gorham. During this time, he was a deacon and key developer in expanding the church. Once he retired, Bill was a member of the Cape Cod Bible Alliance Church in Brewster, Mass. where he served as a trustee prior to his illness.

Bill is survived by his devoted wife, Mary (Hopkinson) of 47 years; his children Robert W. Hoffman and Jessica D’Acosta, their spouses Christine and Louis; as well as his beloved grandchildren Isaac and Martin Hoffman and Briana and Chelsea D’Acosta. Additionally, Bill is survived by his siblings Constance Berman, Mary H. Hoffman, John M. Hoffman, and Robert L. Hoffman; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Bill was predeceased by both of his parents; as well as his youngest brother, Andrew Hoffman.

A Celebration of Life will be held on June 7, at 1 p.m. at Cape Cod Bible Alliance Church, Brewster, Mass.
