Music in the Park will return to Biddeford on Wednesday, July 2, for its 14th season.

Organized by Heart of Biddeford, the series will take place in Mechanics Park, and will also feature a farmers and makers market for the first time.

“The main goal is to welcome people to come downtown and get together to enjoy live music,” Heart of Biddeford Director Delilah Poupore said.

Every Wednesday evening in July, community members are invited to hear live music, shop the market and enjoy a food truck from Brickyard Hollow for an unforgettable summer experience by the river.

Five new bands are scheduled to play this summer, some of whom are local favorites, while others come from far away.

“The music that we hire for these nights are often bands that you don’t get to see in other places,” Poupore said.

Music in the Park kicks off with a performance from local musician Shanna Underwood, performing soulful travel-inspired tunes.

Throughout the month, downtown Biddeford will hear music ranging from a Celtic band based in northern Maine, Americana and blues from a Nashville-based duo, and folk from a Boston artist.

To round out the month, Biddeford rock band Falkyn will perform on July 30.

“Some bands are local, but some are a special experience,” Poupore said.

Biddeford Mayor Martin Grohman is one of the Biddeford residents most excited for the summer series.

Music in the Park is a great way to bring people into Biddeford’s vibrant downtown, support local businesses and creators, and enjoy everything Biddeford has to offer, Grohman said. “There’s nothing better than a summer evening spent outdoors with music, friends and community,” he said. “I’m really excited about this year’s Music in the Park series, and the addition of the new makers market makes it even better.”

Music in the Park officially kicks off on Wednesday, July 2, with the public market beginning at 4 p.m. in Mechanics Park. Live music will start at 6 p.m.

“I am looking forward to people coming together,” Poupore said. “Music in the Park tells people to come on out, enjoy the weather, enjoy the people and this great town.”
