A day to remember
Gorham High School seniors, 180 strong, will graduate in a formal commencement ceremony at 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 8, outside on the stadium field at the school. The high school is located at 41 Morrill Ave.
In a press release, Principal Brian Jandreau said the ceremony will precede a parade convoy for students and families through town at 7:30 p.m., beginning at J.P. Noonan on Main Street and ending at the school.
The seniors will have a closed event at the convoy’s conclusion.
Azul Tequila is Taste Walk winner
Gorham Taste Walk announced June 1 on its Facebook page that Azul Tequila, on School Street, was voted the winner and the recipient of the 2025 Golden Spoon Award.
Junction Bowl, on Railroad Avenue, was second, and Miller’s Market, on School Street, third.
The annual event in Gorham Village is a fundraiser for Young Life Sebago, a ministry for Gorham and Windham teenagers. Event proceeds will help send students to summer camp.
Gazebo concerts kickoff
A summer series of free concerts on Tuesdays will begin with Hot Damn Duo from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on June 24, at the gazebo on the lawn at the municipal center, 75 South St.
The series concludes on Aug. 5.
Those attending are welcome to pack a picnic, chair or blanket. See the full lineup at gorhamme.myrec.com.
50 years ago
The American Journal reported on June 4, 1975, that Edna Dickey, of White Rock Road, was hostess at a dinner party that honored her Bible class at First Parish Church. Dickey was a professor at the forerunner of the University of Southern Maine.
