Robert “Bob” M. Bahm
CAPE ELIZABETH – Robert “Bob” M. Bahm, 80, of Cape Elizabeth, passed away peacefully in Switzerland on April 9, 2025.
Born on Dec. 22, 1944, in Brookline, Mass., Bob was the son of Norma (Rivetz) Bahm and Harry Bahm. He graduated from Brookline High School and Adelphi College before setting off to explore Europe. While in Copenhagen, Denmark, he met Marianne Mau, who became his first wife.
Following the end of that marriage, Bob returned to Massachusetts to pursue a Ph.D. in clinical psychology. During this time, he married Jane Williams, and together they raised three children in Arlington and Groton, Mass. Bob established a thriving private practice and served as a consultant to local schools, where his empathy and insight touched the lives of many students and families.
Later in life, Bob found a loving partnership with Jan Baker, whom he met while she was living and working in Boston, Mass. Upon retiring, they moved to Maine—first to Falmouth, then to Cape Elizabeth, where Bob remained deeply engaged in the community, contributing his time and heart to several nonprofit organizations.
Known for his warmth, intellect, and gift for conversation, Bob could connect with anyone. His discussions ranged far and deep, often lasting hours, and always left people feeling heard and understood.
Bob is survived by his sister, Carol Langer; his first wife, Marianne Mau; and his partner, Jan Baker. He is also survived by his three children with his second wife, Jane Williams, who are Damion Luaiye, Jennifer Mohan, and Sarah Bahm. Also surviving him are Jan’s children, Vince Marshall and Amy Marshall; and seven grandchildren.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.
