Nearly three weeks after opening in the Midcoast, Jason’s New York Pizza is still attracting lines out the door, according to CEO Zachary Black.

“We’re continuously having a grand opening into our third week,” he said.

The Bangor-based family restaurant opened its fourth location, a storefront in the Topsham Fair Mall, on May 3. Since then, staff have made 6,000 pizzas and served customers from as far as Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and South Royalton, Vermont.

“It’s been crazy in Topsham; every day is like a Friday in pizza world,” Black said.

So, what’s the hype?

“Tried-and-true tested product. People know what they’re getting every time they come back,” Black said.

Jason’s specializes in classic New York–style pizza. The menu also offers salads, subs, calzones and wings.

Jason’s has been in business since 1997, when Donna and Martin Fell opened the original location on Hammond Street in Bangor. The Fells later added a location in Brewer and an additional Bangor location, as well as a concessions booth at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.

Their son, Chief Operating Officer Jonathan Fell, and Black, his partner, have helped bring the business south to Topsham.

The Topsham location is about 800 square feet bigger than the Bangor stores, Black said, and likely 100%–200% busier so far.

With wait times for full pizzas ranging between 45 and 90 minutes in the evenings, customers in a hurry can choose to snag a slice from the to-go section.

“We’re working hard to keep up with the demand,” Black said.

Jason’s Pizza is located near Hannaford at 49 Topsham Fair Mall Road. It’s open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week.
