VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Stanley George Stevens passed away Friday, April 25, 2025 in Virginia Beach, Virginia, following a blessedly short battle with cancer.
Stanley was born in Salem, Massachusetts, he was the son of George Harding Stevens and Florence Anne (Dufesne) Stevens, both deceased and originally of Concord, New Hampshire. Stan was predeceased by his wife of 48 years, the love of his life, Barbara Ann (Rumpf) Stevens of Portland.
Stan is survived by the pride of his life, his son Brad William Stevens of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Brad’s partner Shawna Cain and her family, his two very special grandsons, Jacob Harding Stevens and Braden Patrick Stevens, his sister Wendy (Stevens) Myler of Goffstown, New Hampshire, and her son Benjamin Michael Myler of Marietta, Georgia. Stanley also leaves behind many deeply loved brothers and sisters in-law, nieces and nephews in the large, loving extraordinary Rumpf family.
Stanley enlisted in the Navy directly after high school and served on the Aircraft Carrier USS Intrepid throughout his enlistment. He then entered an apprenticeship program with General Electric in Lynn, Massachusetts, where he rose through the ranks in management in the turbine division. During that time, he met and married Barbara and they lived briefly in Lynn, Massachusetts, before settling in Hampton, New Hampshire, for the duration of his work years. He and Barbara spent his retirement years in Florida while Barbara continued to work as a traveling nurse educator up until her sudden death in 2017.
The family will hold a small private life celebration later this summer.
