Patricia Ursula (Colpitts) Lewia

KENNEBUNK – Patricia Ursula (Colpitts) Lewia passed away April 20, 2025, at Summer Commons in Sanford, following a period of declining health.

Patricia was born on March 6, 1936, to John and Anna (Krasko) Colpitts in Biddeford. She attended Saco schools and graduated from Thornton Academy, Class of 1954. She met the love of her life, Robert Eugene Lewia, through a mutual friend. They were married on May 4, 1957. She was a beautician in the Portland area until the arrival of the first child, Bruce, in 1958, who was soon followed by Stephen, Mark, and Scott. There was a brief pause, and they were all joined by Pat and Bob’s only daughter, Jennifer.

Pat was the consummate homemaker, despite her grandmother’s fear that Bob would starve when they were first married. She was a solid presence in her children’s lives, always the cheerleader, confidant, referee, and disciplinarian. She had a voice that could carry through walls, neighborhoods, and especially at sporting events. To say she was a spectator is an understatement. She was known to rile the referees at wrestling matches from the edge of the mat and was even threatened with eviction from several meets.

She was a doting grandmother to 10, (in order of appearance): Stephen, Nathan, Christopher, Katelyn, Patrick, Kelsey, Meaghan, Stephanie, Emily, and Mackenzie; plus 11 great-grandchildren. She was Nanny to her Maine grandchildren and Grammie to her Virginia/California grandchildren. She provided childcare for many of her grandchildren, and even some of her great-grandchildren. Pat and Bob were supportive of all their family’s endeavors. Be they watching their own children from the sidelines, the edge of the mat, or in the audience at a performance at KHS, their pride in family was palpable. They expanded this tradition (and their wardrobe) by attending events in Wells once their extended family was entrenched in that community.

She was a devoted Patriots fan. She was known to have a shrine to the Patriots (especially Tom Brady) and would don her Patriot’s jersey for every game and had many rituals to ensure a win.

In addition to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, she is survived by her four daughters-in-law, Annette (Mark), Mary (Stephen), Jennifer (Bruce), and Shelley (Scott); her brother and sister-in-law John and Anita Colpitts, her sister-in-law Donna Lewia; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Lewia, who passed away in 2023; her parents; as well as her sisters and brothers-in-law Irene and William Wood and Marcella and David Bates, her brother-in-law Richard Lewia, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Frances and Lloyd Robinson.
