David Christopher Johnson Wihry

SOUTH PORTLAND – David will be remembered for being a kind, caring, and gentle person. He was a devoted son, brother, and uncle, and he was selfless in striving to ensure the happiness and wellbeing of his family.

For many years, he cared for his father and mother as they battled the illnesses that ultimately took their lives. Despite his commitment to his full-time professional and care-giving roles, he also always made time for his sister, whom he lovingly supported through life’s challenges. He was an adoring uncle to his niece who deeply loved her uncle David.

David took pleasure and found solace in spending time with his dog, Al, whom he loved dearly. David would take Al for walks in his Willard Beach neighborhood and by the ocean. David was also a talented guitar and banjo player, and his music soothed and comforted his parents in their later years.

David’s loss is an unspeakable tragedy for his family, and his absence has left a hole in our hearts that can never be filled. David was a truly special person; smart, generous and endlessly giving of himself, and we pray that he has reunited with loved ones and found peace in a better place.

At the time of his passing, David was predeceased by his father, David F. Wihry, and survived by his mother, Anita S. Wihry, who was residing at The Heron House in Cumberland Foreside.

Since his mother’s passing, David is now survived by his sister, Katherine A.E. Wihry, brother-in-law, Joshua E. Harriman, and niece, Eva M.E. Harriman, of Gatineau, Quebec.

We would like to thank all of the extended family and friends who supported and cared for David and our family in his final days.
