Richard Wyman Turcotte
ALFRED – Richard Wyman Turcotte, resident of East Waterboro, passed away at his home on April 10, 2025. He was 86 years of age.
Richard was born in Lisbon Falls, on June 18, 1938, the son of Alphonse and Sarah (White) Turcotte. The family moved to South Portland, when Richard was five, he attended South Portland grade schools, and graduated from South Portland High School in 1956. He attended Portland Junior College and then the University of Maine, graduating with a degree in Business Administration. He furthered his education by taking courses in cost accounting as well as credit and collection. During his time at school he served as the president of the jazz club and international relations club and hosted a 12-week radio show called “ Jazz and Chatter from the University of Maine.” During and after school he played trumpet and guitar. He participated in intramural basketball and track, and he was a member of the university golf team.
Richard spent several years with each of the following companies: General Electric Corporation as credit and collections manager, Maine Cement Products as assistant credit manager, MCCAD Federal Credit Union as the originator and president of that company’s first credit union, Borg Warner Acceptance Corporation as branch manager, and Bath Trustworthy Hardware as that company’s founder and president. After selling the store in 1983, he spent the balance of his career as a field agent and advisor for the Maine Department of Labor. Upon his death, he worked as a part-time associate of Datarite of Maine / Payroll Matters in Saco.
Richard was a member of Demoley, the Knights of Columbus, the Lions Club, Credit International, Maine State Employees Union, and several retirees’ organizations.
Richard enjoyed playing golf, fishing, hunting, boating, and had an avid interest in aviation. He further enjoyed watching his sons play baseball, play football, and wrestle. He loved to watch his two grandsons race stock cars and play baseball, and he loved to spend time with his two younger grandchildren.
Richard is predeceased by parents, Alphonse and Sarah Turcotte.
He is survived by his longtime partner and confidant, Lucille R. Bousquet; his sons, Scott R. Turcotte of Buxton, and Keith R. Turcotte and his wife, Ashley Turcotte, of Saco; his daughter, Susan A. Ricker and her husband, George Ricker, of Tamworth, N.H.; and his grandchildren, Aaron Ricker and Alex Ricker of Tamworth, N.H., and Adriana Turcotte and Garrett Turcotte of Saco.
