GORHAM – George P. Bangs, Sr., 87, passed away April 8, 2025, at Ledgewood Manor in Windham.
Born on Jan. 29, 1938, George was raised in Waldoboro by his mother, Lucille Smith Bangs. He lived in Gorham most of his adult life working as a store manager for Gorham Pharmacy and in the S.D. Warren/Sappi paper mill.
George was predeceased by his wife, Patricia Cook Bangs; two sons, David and Stephen; his mother; and two half-brothers, Richard Wilshire and Robert Wilshire.
He is survived by a son, George, Jr. and his wife Deborah, and a daughter, Cynthia. George has four grandchildren, Maxwell, Alyssa, Travis, and Kylie; and several great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Debbie from Home Instead for her care and compassion this past year. They would also like to thank the compassionate staff of Northern Light Hospice and the staff of Ledgewood Manor for all their care, support, and kindness.
At George’s request, there will be no public service and the burial will be private.
