Garry Glatz

NORWAY – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Garry Glatz, of Norway, Maine, on April 6. 2025, at Stephens Memorial Hospital. He had suffered greatly from Lewy Body Dementia and Parkinson’s for years, and though the end was inevitable, it was sudden.

Garry is survived by his wife, Janet Glatz; his son, Jonathan Glatz; grandson, Aldrik Glatz; daughter, Leah Sunshine Glatz; granddaughter, Sara Forbes; two great grandchildren, Romano and Genesis Forbes; and five siblings, Larry Glatz, Joel Glatz, Bonnie Marsh. Marsha Walsh. and Jane O’Regan.

In serving his country as a U.S. Marine, Garry was stationed in Camp LeJeune and Viet Nam where he was exposed to substances that were the root cause of his terminal illnesses. He left the corps as a decorated staff sergeant in 1972, with Nat’l Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Viet Nam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, RVN Cross of Gallantry, Navy Commendation Medal, and Rifle Sharpshooter.

He was an outstanding cross-country athlete, as well as an accomplished ski jumper. His final wishes included the donation to University of New England of his remains.

No formal services will be held. Garry’s wishes were for a very small family gathering, the details of which have not been finalized.

Please do not send flowers, but donations may be made to the University of New England.
