Next week, the Maine Department of Transportation will start a series of paving and pedestrian safety improvements in Yarmouth. Working on routes 1, 88 and 115, the projects will cause intermittent detours and alternating traffic until July.
Roadwork will take place on Route 88, also known as Princes Point Road, to Falls Bridge over the Royal River. This will necessitate a single lane of alternating traffic, according to a notice by Maine DOT.
Route 115, or Marina Road, will undergo construction from Main Street to Route 88. Traffic from Marina Road will be detoured to Main Street via Route 88.
Roadwork will occur on Route 1 from Portland Street to Forest Drive Falls, and traffic will be maintained in two lanes where possible, said Maine DOT.
The roadwork is contracted to Coastal Road Repair of Westbrook. The contract amount was approximately $1.8 million and is covered by the state.
