Here I sit, reading the Press Herald and enjoying my morning cup of coffee.
I’m a retired member of the U.S. Postal Service, having been a letter carrier here in Portland for over 30 years. Our local branch of the National Association of Letter Carriers organized a rally that took place in front of the main post office on Forest Avenue in Portland on March 23.
While I could not personally attend that rally to show support, for my friends who are still wearing the uniform and my anger at what our current administration has planned for the Postal Service, I was looking forward to the coverage of the event. Unfortunately, there was none.
Why? There were articles covering much smaller rallies showing support for trans athletes. Another showing support for Ukraine. Is the United States Postal Service and its many dedicated employees not worth at least a photo or two?
