Carolyn Olsen Robinson

PORTLAND – Carolyn Olsen Robinson passed away peacefully on March 19, 2025 at the age of 93.

Carolyn was born on Oct. 6, 1931, to parents Clarence Olsen and Agnes (Martinson) Olsen.

She had many fond memories of growing up in the beautiful, historic town of Concord, Mass., surrounded by her large Norwegian family.

She graduated from Concord High School in 1950, where she was voted “best dressed”. This would become her legacy, as she was known throughout her life for her elegance and great personal style.

Concord High is also where she met her future husband, Jonathan C. Robinson. After marrying in 1954, the two relocated to Maine while Jonathan attended college in Orono, and it was there that they started their family, welcoming sons Mark and David.

They made Maine their permanent home, finally settling in a wonderful colonial era house in Falmouth, where their third child, daughter, Kristen, was born.

Although Carolyn would spend her adult life in Maine, she continued to have strong ties to Concord and her family there. Visits would occur throughout the year, but most notable was always the annual Martinson family reunion, a time to connect with her large vibrant family and celebrate their Norwegian heritage. Eventually she would travel to Norway, meeting relatives there, and always cherished memories from that trip.

In 1994, Carolyn suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm at the age of 63. The expectations that she would live were low, but after months in the hospital and rehab, she was able to return to her home, where she lived for many years. Losing some independence, as she could never drive again, she never-the-less persevered for the remaining 30 years of her life.

Carolyn Robinson was a woman of enormous strength and fortitude. She always surrounded herself with beauty and lived her life with dignity. She was an inspiration to all who knew her and was loved by many. She will be greatly missed.

Carolyn is survived by her older sister, Virginia Corrigan, of Concord, Mass., younger brother, Kenneth Olsen and his wife, Carol, also of Concord, Mass.; son, Mark A. Robinson of Winn, son, David R. Robinson, of Crystal and daughter, Kristen Robinson, of Portland. Carolyn also leaves behind three grandsons; three great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter.

Carolyn’s family would like to thank the assisted living staff at 75 State Street, and the staff of Beacon Hospice for their wonderful care.
