Joseph Harvey Alex Martin Jr.

OLD ORCHARD BEACH – Joseph Harvey Alex Martin, Jr., 86, of Old Orchard Beach, passed away March 14, 2025 at Maine Medical Center.

He was born in Hanover on Nov. 6, 1938, the son of Alexander and Aurore (Babineau) Martin.

Joseph was a graduate of Stephens High School, served in the U.S. Army and retired after a long career in the oil business. He was a devout Catholic, loved his friends and family taking every opportunity to gather.

He was predeceased by his son, Lee Martin, Feb. 20, 2020; and his sister, Marilyn Martin Violet.

Joseph is survived by his wife of 66 years, Anita Smith Martin of Old Orchard Beach; his daughters Lorna Martin, Laurie (and Mark) Emmons, Lisa (and Scott) O’Bar; his sister, Joanne Martin Thurston, his brother, Joseph “Ronnie” Martin and Anne Marie Martin; nieces and nephews Lynn, Beth and Kevin, Michael, Julie and Sharon; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Burial will take place at a later date at the St. John Cemetery in Rumford. Dennett, Craig and Pate Funeral Home, Saco is entrusted with his arrangements and is where you can view full obituary.
