Edward L. Bushey

PORTLAND – Edward L. Bushey, 72, of Woodbury Street in Portland, passed away on Monday March 24, 2025 at the Gosnell House in Scarborough following a long illness.

He was born in Portland on April 15, 1952 the third child of Robert A. and Beatrice L. Foster Bushey. Ed was educated in Portland schools and was a graduate of Portland High School, class of 1970.

He met the love of his life, Janet Freeman in 1977, and they were married in 1979, welcoming their son, Jeremy, into the world in 1982. Ed was employed with Crosby Laughlin for 15 years, and later worked at S.D. Warren.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, watching the Patriots, Bruins, Celtics and Nascar races. Ed also loved watching “Jeopardy”, “Wheel of Fortune”, “Price Is Right”, “Gold Rush”, and “MacGyver”. He was always helping people and tinkering with things around the house.

Ed was predeceased by his parents; and his wife, Janet, passed away in 2005.

Surviving besides his son, Jeremy Bushey of Portland, are his two brothers, Arthur and his wife Julie, Kenneth and his life partner Ellen; and many nieces, nephews; cousins; and friends; and his beloved grand dog, Luna.

Visiting hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday April 3, at A.T. Hutchins Funeral Home, 660 Brighton Ave. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. on Friday April 4 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Brooklawn Memorial Park, 2002 Congress St., Portland.
