Kenneth S. Foss

SACO – Kenneth S. Foss, 94, of Simpson Road, passed away Monday March 17, 2025, at his residence with his family at his side. He was born in Saco on Feb. 21, 1931, the son of Kenneth and Mona Sawyer Foss.

Ken attended Saco schools and graduated from Thornton Academy in 1948. After school he first worked at his uncle’s chicken farm and then moved to California, where he worked on The Spruce Goose for Howard Hughes.

Returning home, Ken worked for Chasses Grocery in Sanford as a meat cutter, moving over to Hannaford as a buyer and ultimately as produce inspector. In all, he worked for Hannaford for over 38 years.

Ken and his wife Gloria retired to Florida for over 24 years. He enjoyed golf, all kinds of wildlife, genealogy, the Civil War, and the New England Patriots. He researched his families roots back to the 1600s in Denmark.

Ken kept a daily journal and would write each grandchild and great grandchild a handwritten note for each birthday. Faith was also very important to Ken.

Survivors include his wife Gloria of 68 years of Saco; twp sons, Kelley of Tiverton, RI and wife Cynthia, and Ken of Saco and wife Marina, three daughters Linda of Lyndeborough, NH and husband Artie, Joan of Augusta and husband Henry, and Tammy of Saco and husband Charlie; three sisters Joanne Allen of Saco, Sandra Moore of Auburn and husband Richard and Monica Gentry of Kentucky and husband Roy; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.

Visiting hours are to be held Tuesday, March 25, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Dennett, Craig & Pate Funeral Home 365 Main St. Saco. A 6 p.m. memorial service will immediately follow at the funeral home.
