Karen Henderson

CAPE ELIZABETH – Karen Henderson, 78, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 10, 2025, at Cape Memory Care in Cape Elizabeth, Maine.

Born on June 26, 1946, in Westboro, Mass., she was the beloved daughter of Robert and Elaine (Ellis) Bullard. Karen cherished her childhood in Westboro, growing up alongside her sisters, Susan and Janice. She graduated from Westboro High School in 1964 and continued her education at Green Mountain College in Vermont, where she earned an associate degree.

Karen made her home in various locations throughout her life, including Scarborough and South Portland, Maine, as well as Pittsfield, NH, and Mukilteo, Wash. She had a deep love for gardening and treasured the time spent with her family and friends. In the 1990s, she pursued her passion for horticulture, returning to school at the University of Maine Cooperative Extension and completing the Master Gardener Program. She found great fulfillment in her work creating beautiful landscapes in the South Portland/Cape Elizabeth area.

Karen is survived by her loving children, Christopher Henderson of Surprise, Ariz., and Jay Henderson of Bothell, Wash. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Robert and Stella; and her dear sisters, Susan and Janice.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no formal service. A celebration of Karen’s life, where the family can share memories, will be held at a later date.
