A 13-year-old boy was killed after being hit by a tractor in St. Agatha on Sunday afternoon, state police said.
Maine State Police responded to a report of an accident along Chasse Road shortly after 12:40 p.m., Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss said in a written statement.
A preliminary investigation found that the boy had been on foot behind the tractor “as it was being operated,” Moss said.
The boy, whom authorities have not identified, was taken to a hospital in Fort Kent, where he was pronounced dead from his injuries, Moss said. An investigation is ongoing.
Though early media reports indicated the boy to be 14 years old, Moss confirmed that he was 13.
