Matzliah Ben-Evi
OLD ORCHARD BEACH – Matzliah Ben-Evi, 76, of Old Orchard Beach, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2025, after a courageous fight until the very end.
Born in Morocco, Matzliah lived a rich and adventurous life, one that touched the hearts of many. His strong-willed spirit allowed him to embrace every moment, facing challenges with resilience and determination. A man of deep faith, Matzliah’s unwavering devotion to his beliefs guided him throughout his life. His spirituality provided him with strength, wisdom, and a deep sense of purpose, shaping the way he loved, led, and cared for those around him. He was cherished for his kindness, generosity, and the genuine warmth he extended to everyone he met. His mischievous smile, quick wit, and love for life were unmistakable, whether he was sharing a story, embarking on an adventure, or playfully ensuring he never lost a card game. His presence brought warmth, laughter, and a sense of belonging to those around him.
He leaves behind his wife, Elizabeth; children, Sivan, Tomer, Adam, Richard, and Michelle; his brother and sisters; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins, who will remember him fondly. Along with them, countless friends and loved ones will forever carry his memory in their hearts.
Matzliah’s life was a testament to strength, devotion, and the joy of living fully. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 2, at Mt. Sinai Cemetery, 180 Hicks St., Portland, ME 04103. Arrangements entrusted to Portland Jewish Funeral Home.
