Walker library Friends to meet
Friends of Walker Memorial Library, 800 Main St., will meet from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 27, for a potluck gathering.
“Bring your favorite dish to share, and let’s enjoy some great food while we discuss how we can best advocate for our beloved library,” the Friends posted online.

Historical society reschedules program
Auto racing historian Steve Pellerin will present a program about the former Beech Ridge Speedway at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, in the Oak Room in Westbrook Community Center, 426 Bridge St.
The program was previously scheduled for March 1.
The meeting will include a 50/50 raffle and refreshments.
50 years ago
The American Journal reported Feb. 26, 1975, that the Women’s Fellowship of the Westbrook-Warren Congregational Church was to launch a thrift shop on Saturdays in the Parish Hall. The shop was to open March 1 that year.
