As disheartening as the outcome of the recent national election was to many, it will give us all an opportunity to compare the effect on the country of MAGA policy (next four years) and Democratic policy (last four years).
Areas to compare might include control of inflation; health care access; medical debt; childhood infections; Medicare and Social Security stability; infant and maternal mortality; proposals for sustainable and humane immigration policy; proposals for addressing climate change and its threats to life and property; gun violence; stability in international relations; worker power and union strength; unemployment rate; student performance in school; veterans’ well-being; manufacturing growth and job creation; balance of trade; wealth inequality; and crony capitalism.
I encourage the Press Herald to take on such a comparison project four years from now, to provide their readers with the facts they should have when they enter the polling booth.
