Oh, my country, what have you done? What will become of us now?
I fear I know.
We will increasingly be the haves and have nots. Public education will lose more and more excellence. NATO will lose more and more strength. Journalism will lose more and more independence. Infrastructure will be less and less reliable. Health care will be more and more expensive. Faith in the government will fail. Many of those new to our land will be forced to leave. Women will be forced to risk their bodies, their lives. Democracy will become increasingly frail, then die. More and more people will have no home. Hate, revenge, retribution and prejudice will flourish. We’ll use more guns to kill more innocents, even children. And our country’s home, our planet, what of Earth? Nature will perish. The destruction we are well into? It will speed up, and all the miracles of life will perish.
We will use denial to the very end. We are trumped.
