Martha (Kendall) Gilmore
BRUNSWICK – Martha Kendall Gilmore was born on May 7, 1940 in Miami, Fla.
Martha passed away peacefully on Oct. 23, 2024 in Brunswick.
As a youngster, Martha enjoyed horseback riding and tennis. Growing up, Martha and her family spent summers in Brunswick.
Martha attended Wheaton College in Massachusetts and began her career in elementary education.
Later in life, Martha relocated to Brunswick to marry her husband, George Gilmore. She enjoyed music, dancing, theater, quilting and being on Casco Bay.
Martha was predeceased by her parents, Harold and Elizabeth Kendall; and two brothers, Harold and Peter Kendall.
Martha is survived by her husband, George Gilmore; and her sister, Susan Bradford. Martha is also survived by her children, Elizabeth Shortsleeve, Kent Black, Daphne Brenner; and Martha’s seven grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, Nov. 1, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal St., Brunswick, ME 04011. Family will gather privately at Riverside Cemetery for the interment.
