John F. McKinnon Sr.
SACO – John F. McKinnon Sr., 87, of Hearn Road, passed away Tuesday Oct. 22, 2024, peacefully.
He was born Dec. 19, 1936 in Portland, the son of Everett and Evelyn McKinnon.
John joined the U.S. Airforce in 1954 and served until 1958. He served in Korea, Japan and stateside before returning to Maine. He married his high school sweetheart Elizabeth Treadwell and were married for 67 years. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans and Amvets. John loved his ham radio and CB.
Survivors include his wife Elizabeth of Saco; daughter, Linda Rudy of Lisbon Falls and her husband Dan, sons John Jr., of Pennsylvania, Ron of Spring Branch, Texas and wife Maria, son, Everett of Saco, and a daughter Wendy of Sanford; a brother, Dick of Portland, Tenn. John is blessed with 22 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents; and two sons, Kevin and Timothy McKinnon.
Visiting hours will be held Sunday 2 to 4 p.m. Oct. 27, at the Dennett, Craig and Pate Funeral Home, 13 Portland Rd., Buxton. A funeral service will be held Monday 1 p.m., Oct. 28, at the Dennett, Craig and Pate Funeral Home, 13 Portland Rd., Buxton. Graveside services will be held Tuesday Oct. 29, at 10 a.m. at Southern Maine Veterans Cemetery. Service will conclude with U.S. Air Force military honors.
