Gail (Richardson) Mason

NAPLES – Gail Richardson Mason, 82, of Naples, passed away peacefully on Oct. 22, 2024.

She was born in 1942 to Ruth Henrich Richardson and William Wooley Richardson of Barrington R.I. She attended Barrington schools before leaving to begin high school at Kents Hill School in Maine where she met the love of her life, Charles R. Mason. They eloped in December of 1960 and began a beautiful life together that lasted until her death, 64 years later.

Gail was most proud of her family. She was a devoted wife and mother who raised five children while working alongside her husband in their successful insurance agency. Their self-employment allowed them to be an active presence in their children’s, and later their grandchildren’s, lives. Gail/Mimi never missed a school play, concert or sporting event. She loved nothing more than cheering her children and grandchildren on from the sidelines.

In earlier years with her children, she enjoyed summers with her family at their lakehouse, where lifelong friendships were forged. When she was not supporting her grandchildren as a proud Mimi, Gail was happiest at the beach, either at the lake, or in her beloved South Carolina, where her husband was always at her side.

Gail was also a loving and devoted pet owner. Growing up, her children were never told “no” when it came to pets. At one point, in their family home in North Conway, there were cats, dogs, chickens, ducks, rabbits and horses. This love of animals lasted throughout her life and she leaves behind her beloved Mac and Simba.

Later in life, she and her beloved Chuck embarked on their retirement by buying a campground, which they ran for many years alongside their son, Michael. They also traveled extensively in their motorhome, where they connected with southern friends and took their grandchildren on special trips. Mimi particularly loved being at Disney, surrounded by her grandchildren. She will be terribly missed by all of her family.

Gail is survived by her adoring husband, Charles, of Naples; her children, Carol Lee Mason of Maine, Kelly Medley (Billy) of Florida, Kristin Nolette (Mark) of Maine, Michael Mason (Anne) of Maine, and Katie Cribby (Derek) of Louisiana; as well as treasured grandchildren, Anthony, Sophia and Emma Fagone; Connor, Matthew and Brady Cribby; Myla and Mandi Mason; and Billy, Max and Jack Medley; great-grandchild, Mila Fagone.

A time of visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 27, at the Hall Funeral Home, 165 Quaker Ridge Rd. in Casco. Reception to follow. Condolences and tributes may be shared with her family at http://www.hallfuneralhome.net.
