Lynnette (Salveson) Fishburn

SACO – Lynnette Salveson Fishburn, 70, of Saco, passed away peacefully Sunday, Oct. 13, 2024 after a 6 ½ year struggle with metastatic kidney cancer. She was surrounded by her children in her final moments as God welcomed her spirit into heaven.

Lynnette, known as “Lynne” by her friends and family, was born in Oakland, Calif. on Oct. 16, 1953, the daughter of Richard and Jane (Jones) Salveson. Lynne grew up in a military family and moved often with fond childhood memories in places like Hawaii, California, and Guam where she graduated at the top of her class from George Washington Senior High School. In her adult years she lived in New Jersey, Northern Virginia, and finally Maine.

In New Jersey, she met her husband of 35 years, Jack. Lynne and Jack were the perfect example of an opposites-attract relationship; they complemented each other’s strengths and weaknesses, creating wonderful friendships, and a strong family bond.

In her free time, she pursued sewing, leading to the creation of a successful quilting business. She sewed for countless customers, creating family heirlooms with her own unique style. She was the member of numerous quilting guilds, where she connected with hundreds of quilters from around the world to share her craft.

Lynne had unwavering faith and commitment to her church communities. She enjoyed being a part of Bible Study Fellowship, Altar Guilds, and Prayer Groups in the various places she lived. Lynne’s warm spirit and faith touched the lives of many, which will always be remembered by her friends.

What Lynne loved most was her family, being a mother of three and grandmother of four. Lynne took pride in being a Mom and Grammy, and was so proud of her children and grandchildren. They thrived because of her encouragement and unwavering support.

Her spirit and love touched everyone around her, and she will be missed greatly.

Lynne is survived by her son, Brian Crew of Wilmington, Del.; her daughter, Laura Oakes, Laura’s husband Nathan, and their sons Landon and Woodrow of Portland; her son, Charles Fishburn, Charles’s wife Julia, their son Peyton, and daughter Charley of Westfield, N.J.; her sister, Sherrye Fuentes and her husband Jesse of Houston, Texas, and her brother, Thomas Salveson and his wife Susan of Kempner, Texas.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at First Lutheran Church, 132 Auburn St., Portland, ME 04103 on Oct. 26, 2024 at 10 a.m., with reception to follow nearby.
