Spooky Stroll Oct. 19
Get in the Halloween spirit with the Haunted Walk and Spooky Stroll sponsored by the Lake Region High School cross country team on Saturday, Oct. 19, at the high school athletic fields. The stroll (suitable for the younger crowd) takes place at 5:30 p.m. and the three-quarter-mile haunted walk on the Dors Trail runs from 6 to 8 p.m. There is a $5 charge to participate; kids under three are free. Treats, games and face painting will be on offer along with live music by Freek. Costumes are encouraged. Rain date is Sunday, Oct. 20.
Get out to vote
early or Nov. 5
The 2024 national elections are quickly approaching and everyone is encouraged to get out and vote, either on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 5, at Town Hall on North High Street, or beforehand at the Bridgton Town Office, 3 Chase St. In addition to voting for president, and for senators and representatives (both national and state), there is also a special town referendum up for decision. The Town Office is currently accepting voter registrations, and absentee ballots are now available. Voters can also register at the polls on Election Day. Benefit spaghetti
dinner Saturday
The Bridgton Center Village Fire Association will hold a public spaghetti dinner to benefit the family of Terry Dormer, a volunteer firefighter who was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident. The meal will be served at the Oriental Masonic Lodge on Harrison Road (Route 117) from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, and all are welcome to attend. Suggested donations are $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12.

Appreciation Day
To thank the Friends of Bridgton Public Library and the public for their support and participation over the summer, the Bridgton Public Library will hold a Patron Appreciation Day and its final used book sale of the year on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 9 a.m. to noon. All are invited to come and enjoy some warm cider with homemade cookies and stock up on reading material for the upcoming cold season.
