Kim Marie Scott
BIDDEFORD – Kim Marie Scott, 62, passed away at Maine Medical Center on Oct. 14, 2024. She was born in Charleston, S.C., on June 18, 1962, the daughter of Arthur and Georgia “Joy” (Semans) Jones.
Kim was a graduate of Scarborough High School; she was elected the president of student council her junior year. She also graduated from Andover College majoring in paralegal studies. She worked many years at Conde Nast Publishing Company as an administrative assistant in their Detroit office until her illness with sarcoidosis prevented her from continuing. Kim was an accomplished author, having 15 books published and available on Amazon. She penned historical fiction under Kim Scott and Lydia North for historic ghost stores of Maine using factual information. Sadly, she had two books in the process that she was not able to finish. After she became disabled, she kept busy knitting fillers for bras for CC of Maine for their cancer patients who needed them post mastectomy. She developed fillers for swimsuits made by crocheting toile. She took donations of wedding gowns and made burial suits and gowns for preemies and babies who died young.
Kim loved the holidays and decorating. She was a master knitter, crocheter, seamstress and needleworker. She loved knitting sweaters and afghans for her family.
After being diagnosed with sarcoidosis, she did research and helped do the administrative work for 3 Charities Bike Rides for Sarcoidosis. Her family worked tirelessly to help do all the hard work getting donations and riders to make the events successful. She was determined to remain independent and did up to the very end. Her 14-year fight was marveled by many and speaks to her determination in life to always keep pushing, no matter how high the mountain. Kim was straight forward and always was the aunt who told you “Like it was”, even when it had been the same thing their parents were saying. She also was the buffer, the aunt that would have teen movie nights. She impacted all her nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews in their developmental years and supported them into adulthood.
Kim was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, great-aunt and stepmother, foster mother, niece and friend to many.
Kim was predeceased by her father Arthur Jones and cousin Dayna Wilson.
She is survived by her mother Georgia “Joy” Jones of North Waterboro, brothers, Dwight Jones (Nicole) of Scarborough and Andrew “Andy” Jones (Brenda) of Scarborough, sisters, Barbara Cannon of Phoenix, Ariz., and Tammy Hussey (Darrell) of Biddeford, nieces and nephews, Ashley Upton (Kevin), Andrew S. Jones (Carlene), David James “DJ” Gagnon, and Hunter Jones (Sarah Stevenson), great nieces and nephews, Lailah Cresi, Jaxon Lane, Johnathon Wofford, and Alexandria McClure and one great-great niece, four stepsons and many children she fostered, as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins and a great great niece Karydii McClure.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Dennett, Craig & Pate Funeral Home is entrusted with her arrangements.
