Recent declarations by prominent and longtime Maine Republicans Mills, Payne, Emery, Raye, Katz, O’Meara and Cragin – that they will not support Trump for president – is a reassuring sign that some of our Republican leaders will, in extreme circumstances, choose to defend the country instead of holding fast to party allegiance.
It is to be hoped that other Republican voters will be encouraged to make a similar choice.
