Richard Malcolm Stanton
CORNISH – Richard Malcolm Stanton, 79, passed away peacefully on Sept. 27, 2024, after a brave battle with cancer. Born on March 17, 1945, in Boston, Mass. to the late Reta B. Stanton-Lovering, Richard grew up in Melrose, Mass., and graduated from Melrose High School in 1964. Shortly after, he proudly enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served his country with honor.
Following his military service, Richard settled in California, where he pursued a career as a Software Developer. After many successful years in the field, he retired in 2006. In 1994, Richard moved to Maine to be closer to family, eventually settling in Cornish in 2007 with his niece Sara, her husband Sam, and their family, where he resided until his passing.
Richard was known for his kindness, intellect, and unwavering support of those he loved. He enjoyed the quiet beauty of Maine and treasured the time spent with his family, leaving behind fond memories that will be cherished for generations.
He was predeceased by his mother, Reta Stanton-Lovering, in 2006, and his brother, Theodore Stanton, in 2012. Richard is survived by his beloved sister, Priscilla Fowle, and her family of Merrimack, NH, along with many nieces, nephews, and their families.
A graveside service will be held at 12 p.m. on Oct. 19, 2024, at Dow Cemetery, Cape Road, Standish, Maine.
