
Eleanor Cousens Nason, 86, resident of Saco, Maine, formerly of Kennebunk, passed away on Oct. 8, 2024, at Huntington Common, Kennebunk, surrounded by her family.
Eleanor was born on Feb. 3, 1938, to Charles and Ida (Bradbury) Cousens. She graduated from Kennebunk High School and went on to receive her bachelor’s degree in education from The University of Maine – Gorham. She began her teaching career at Cousens School in Kennebunk, and then worked first at Kennebunk Christian Academy and then at Ossipee Valley Christian Academy in Limerick.
After her retirement, she and her husband, Douglass, became snowbirds, spending their winters in Arizona. She also loved being creative, doing outdoor activities, her church and most of all her family and friends.
Eleanor is preceded in death by: her parents, Charles and Ida Cousens; her husband, Douglass Nason; her son, Stephen Nason; and her sister, Mary Bramhall.
She is survived by: her daughter, Verna Linskey and her husband, Bill, of Saco; her daughter, Lennore “Lynn” Michaels and her husband, Paul, of Kennebunk; her daughter-in-law, Sue Nason, of Kennebunk; her two grandchildren, Joshua Nason and his wife, Samatha, and Brian Nason; and her two great-grandchildren, Karissa Nason, and Julianna Nason, all of Kennebunk; and her brother, Charles Cousens Jr., of Wisconsin.
Visiting hours will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 18, 2024, at the Wells Branch Baptist Church, 1342 Branch Road, Wells, ME 04090. A funeral service will take place the following day, Oct. 19, 2024, at 10 a.m. at Wells Branch Baptist Church, followed by interment at Pine Grove Cemetery, West Kennebunk. Reception will be at the Wells Branch Baptist Church immediately following the graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, friends and family may donate in Eleanor’s memory to the Wells Branch Baptist Church, 1342 Branch Road, Wells, ME 04090.
