Lawrence Nathan Stoddard Sr.

SCARBOROUGH – Lawrence Nathan Stoddard, Sr. of Scarborough, died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2024, after a brief illness.

Born in Portland on April 7, 1944, to Ray and Margaret (Esposito) Stoddard, Larry grew up on Munjoy Hill where he enjoyed lobstering with his dad, adventuring, and running track. After he graduated from Portland High School, he joined the Navy and served three years. Outside of tile design and installation, Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, and building his LEGO collection in retirement. His biggest passion was cooking, where he hosted ‘cookie days’ for family and friends.

Larry was predeceased by his parents; sister, Theresa R. Walsh, brother, Richard Stoddard, and brother, Raymond Stoddard.

Larry is survived by his loving wife of over 40 years, Kathryn L. (Fairbrother) Stoddard; daughters Kimberley Stoddard of Westbrook and Stephanie Stoddard and partner Marita Leach of Standish; son, Larry Stoddard, Jr. and wife Claudia of Alfred and their children.

Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Friday, Oct. 18 at 1 p.m. at New Calvary Cemetery in South Portland. There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
