WINDHAM – Elsie V. Haskell, 96, of Windham, passed away on Saturday Sept. 21, 2024, at her home.
She was born on Aug. 8, 1928, to Frank and Mary (Winslow) Cram in Yarmouth. She was raised in Windham and graduated from Windham High School in 1947.
Elsie had worked at the former Woolworth’s Department Store and Maine Medical Center.
She married her husband Harold W. Haskell on Feb. 4, 1951. Together they raised their two sons, Clayton and Michael.
While raising her children, she a part of many organizations including Rebekahs, Eastern Star, Pocahontas Hiawatha, and Grange. She was also a 4-H leader for many years. Elsie was on the Windham Health Council and volunteered at the Medical Loan Closet. She was also the Windham correspondent for the American Journal for 24 years.
Elsie’s true love was her family and spending time at camp on Schoodic Lake.
Elsie was predeceased by her husband, Harold; her parents; and her siblings Meldon, Sumner, Herbert, Ester, Priscilla, Beulah, Edith, Bertha, Zodelle, Walter and Charles.
She is survived by her sons Clayton and his wife Kathryn, Michael and his wife Tammy; granddaughter, Harriet Thoms and her husband Terry; great-grandchildren Garrett and Jacquelyn Thoms.
