An Ohio Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate recently argued that reproductive rights are “not an issue for women past 50.” This echoes the arrogance and lack of respect toward women shown by the Republican presidential candidate’s actions and views on reproductive rights, child care and more. His vice presidential pick has similar instincts.

Even at 79, I care deeply that women have control over their bodies and lives. When doctors fear giving women medical care, as has happened since Roe v. Wade was overturned, many lives are at risk. Regardless of age or gender, we all care about such issues.

Voting for candidates who disdain established women’s rights (to work, to vote, to marry, to choose health care, to be free from violence) is a grave mistake. Please vote for Harris and Walz, who have a demonstrated history of respecting women’s rights and opinions.
