Dorothy (Ingerson) Kennedy

HOULTON – Dorothy (Ingerson) Kennedy, 98, passed away peacefully four days after her 98th birthday. She was born Sept. 20, 1926, the daughter of William and Linnie (Heath) Ingerson.

Dorothy graduated from Patten Academy in 1944. She went on to attend Madigan Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1947. After receiving her R.N., she worked at Doctors Hospital in Washington D.C., St. Mary’s in West Palm Beach, Florida, St. Joseph’s in Bangor, and Aroostook Hospital in Houlton.

Dorothy will be remembered for her incredible work ethic. She was a natural caretaker who truly enjoyed raising her family.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Eugene; daughter, Marie Stover; and brother, Robert Ingerson.

She is survived by her daughters, Dianne Fearon and husband Bruce of Lyman, Sandra Cummings and husband David of Levant, Donna Kennedy of Hollis Center, Karen Mead and husband Chris of Houlton, and Brenda Wade and husband Mark of Alton; grandchildren, Benjamin Crandall of Clifton, Lee Cummings and wife Vicki of Caribou, Janel and husband Steve McCabe of Alfred, Finn Mead of Houlton, and Rachel Mead of Houlton; and sister, Evelyn Carrell. Dorothy is also survived by four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several beloved nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are welcome to call 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, 2024, at Dunn Funeral Home, 11 Park St. Houlton, where a service will be held 12 p.m. with Rev. Victor Han officiating. Interment will be held in Evergreen Cemetery immediately following the service. Those attending are welcome to share conversation and refreshments at the United Methodist Church, 57 Military St. Houlton, following interment.
