Scarborough families are invited to participate in a national event on Wednesday, Oct. 9, designed to foster physical activity and environmental awareness. National Walk and Roll to School Day encourages students to walk or bike to their schools, fostering healthy habits, reducing traffic and highlighting the need for safe routes, strengthening community connections.
For Wentworth, middle and high school students and families living too far, consider starting at the Eastern Trail parking lot (on Eastern Road), Memorial Park (5 Durant Drive) or the Rock Church (66 Gorham Road). Organizers have permission to use the Rock Church lot for this event. A crossing guard will be at the Black Point and Route 1 intersection near Amato’s in the morning and afternoon.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
