Scarborough is hosting its second annual Sustainable Scarborough Day on Sunday, Oct. 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Wentworth School on Quentin Drive.
Experts, local businesses, nonprofits and enthusiasts will be on hand to discuss, demonstrate and provide activities around sustainable living, efficient homes, transportation, recreation, waste management, land conservation and more.
For example, Project GRACE will be demonstrating do-it-yourself solutions to snug up drafty homes; Efficiency Maine will provide information on rebates and incentives to reduce home energy costs; the Bicycle Coalition of Maine will provide e-bike test rides; and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will offer activities around pollinators, including trivia and other games.
Sustainable Scarborough Day is an official National Drive Electric Week event this year and attendees will have the opportunity to test-drive electric vehicles from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Wentworth School parking lot.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
